Dartagnan Griffin

The first signs of veterans card failings and abuse

We knew it would not take long. Our first exposure of a Walt who failed basic training under a cloud yet successfully obtained a veterans card. Meet Dartagnan Griffin.

Claims to have served in NI yet only served two years from 1990 to 1992 and likes e bay bling.

Griffin came to our attention after several members of the Gloucestershire Regiment alerted us to his antics which angered genuine veterans. Griffin had already been drummed out of the regimental association. But, after griffin started flaunting a veterans card like a badge of honour the anger and frustration returned. Something had to be done, so TWMHCHQ stepped in.

Griffin has the pleasure of being our first example of how the veterans card will mean just as much as a veterans badge when someone only needs a days service to qualify or an eBay account.

The fear of most veterans when the veterans card was first announced was the lax rules would be the same as the veterans badge and allow people like griffin based on just having a service number and a few weeks as a recruit to reap the benefits of being a veteran.

There needs to be a more stringent criteria during the application process!

Back to Griffin. We posted up our CC1 and it did not take long to get a mass response.

Before we start Griffins bio read this.

The only other deployment between 1990 and 92 was in 1991 and only three weeks in duration which would not have qualified Griffin even if he had passed basic training and deployed as a trained soldier.

Now the problem for griffin is he is not remembered by anyone in his regiment, and it would have been impossible for him to have been awarded the GSM NI within his service dates due to the regiments deployment dates not falling into place.

We then became inundated with replies to our CC1 and it became very clear griffin’s walting was historic amongst the regiments genuine veterans.

As confirmed by the regiment magazine. He was not listed on the battalion trained strength in 1990, 1991 or 1992.

This went on for quite some time but you get the message.

Not known and had been challenged and publicly outed many times. Yet like a bad penny griffin keeps popping up.

Now let’s take a closer look at his magical moving eBay bling.

We reached out to griffin but he is reluctant to talk as records and former serving show griffin was never on the trained regimental strength so would never have deployed to NI.

There is also this.

He went AWOL during basic, Then spent most of his time in the class house until he was discharged

We posted up our confession box offer.

But he ignored it.

What a Cumper. TWMHCHQ
