If Carlsberg did Walt’s this would be it. Say hi to Mick Carling. Claims to have served in 2 Para during Falklands war, PF and have an MM from Afghanistan and has the medals, to prove it. He is also sporting a rather snazzy 1 Para blazer badge, despite claiming he only served in 2 Para and PF…..odd.

A well respected member of the parachute regiment who served in the Falklands approached Carling after spotting the picture above.

As you can see the genuine veteran had already sussed on Carling was a Walt so threw a few names in the hat to see if he would carry on walting.

Clearly Carling was lying as no entry under Mick Carling Military Medal can be found in the London gazette and that includes his Long service and good conduct medal which would also have been listed.

Carling soon realised the game was up and blocked the genuine Para.

No records of him having passed P company

No records of him having passed his basic military parachute course

No records of him having been a member of the Pathfinder platoon

No records listed under his name as having been awarded the LS&GC or Military Medal.

The medals are also in the wrong order.

2 Para first deployed to Afghanistan 2002 on Op Fingal

In 2000 the pathfinder platoon deployed to Sierra Leone on operation Palliser.

We reached out to Carling, but he was reluctant.

We posted up our confession box offer, but he did not want to take it.

Soon after Carling took down the offending picture and for someone who had served as long as he claimed, the only picture.
