Here we go again and say hi to Paul Rooney who claims to be a member of 2 Para and winner of the DCM

The Tip Off

"Paul Rooney has been claiming to be ex 2 para for many years and the recipient of a DCM which he could only have been awarded in NI as not many paras went to the 1st Gulf War. He stated that his Veterans badge meant more to him than his medals..more than a DCM ! He’s was on the Remembrance Sunday parade in Wakefield last year? But as you can see no beret or medals there."

"Claiming that he’s lost comrades and suffering from PTSD due to his service. He also said that he joined a few years after the Falklands War so probably easier to pin down via ex 2 para if he’s a bloater...if I find something else I’ll send it across."

We posted our come on down.

So we made a few checks. Firstly the London Gazette and no Paul Rooney could be found having the award of a DCM. Distinguished Conduct Medal was discontinued in 1993 with only nine for service in NI and eight for service in the first Gulf war. Going by his claim he had joined three years after the Falklands war he would be easy to check and Rooney never came up…….How strange!

We then checked to see if Paul Rooney had a P Company pass and the Basic Military Parachute Course qualification and the name drew a blank.

So we took a closer look at Rooney and noted he was being called Sniper by his pal's a fair few times...

And It was clear it was not the first time he was questioned on his claims, only for the questions to remain unanswered followed by a pity post about having mental health issues.

But not fast enough Rooney.
